Halifax Regional Police laid charges in significant drug seizure.
Halifax Regional Police charged three people with possession for the purpose of trafficking following a search in Dartmouth last month. In late August 2026, police received information about suspected drug activity at a residence on Elmwood Avenue in Dartmouth. On September 4, police executed a search warrant at the residence. During the search, investigators seized a large quantity of drugs that were sent to Health Canada for further testing. A Glock switch was also seized.
Last week, Health Canada confirmed the substances that were seized. The seizure included 6.2 kg of fentanyl, 1400 pills of fentanyl, 10.5 litres of GHB and 96 packages of cannabis gummies. At this time, police believe these drugs were being held for trafficking and had not yet been sold or consumed by anyone.
“This seizure is significant. It represents the largest quantity of fentanyl and GHB ever seized by Halifax Regional Police, and we believe it is the largest seizure of fentanyl and GHB in Atlantic Canada as well,” said Staff Sergeant Nick Pepler. “We should all be concerned about the potential impact to our communities and to our loved ones. Drug users should be cautious. When you use illicit drugs, there is a real possibility that the drug could be laced with other substances, like fentanyl, increasing the risk of overdose, serious injury, or death.”
John Waye, 73, is facing charges of: Possession for the purpose of trafficking (x2), Possession of cannabis for the purpose of selling, Possession of prohibited or restricted weapon part, and Possession of prohibited weapon part.
Krista Waye, 43, is facing charges of: Possession for the purpose of trafficking (x2), Possession of cannabis for the purpose of selling, and Possession of prohibited or restricted weapon part (X2).
Jaime Beaton, 43, is facing charges of: Possession for the purpose of trafficking (x2), Possession of cannabis for the purpose of selling, and Possession of prohibited or restricted weapon part (x2)
Investigators do not believe these three individuals were acting alone. It is believed the drugs were brought into our region through organized crime, and that there were others involved. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about this incident or any illegal drugs is asked to contact police at 902-490-5020. GO#26-129813
